Gold Work Sampler - Motif #7

I did not care much for the look of the strawberries on the chart but when they were stitched I came to like them.

Gold Work Sampler - Motif #6

I think that the small rose is a very pretty motif.

The white flower and buds are outlined with double running stitch to help them stand out from the background.

Gold Work Sampler - Motif #5

Time for a short break from Queen stitch. The ‘W’ is worked in flame stitch.

I started stitching this motif with a single strand of Soie de Paris but thought that it looked a little thin. I took what I had done and started again with two strands and thought that gave better coverage. It looks a little dense compared to the Queen stitch motifs but I think it will be in better balance when the gold work is added.

Gold Work Sampler - Motif #4

The next motif was another geometric shape.

Again, I completed the outline first and then simply filled in the centre.

Gold Work Sampler - Motif #3

The next motif I worked on was the honeysuckle flower. It was a little more tricky to count but worked up fairly quickly.

Gold Work Sampler - Motif #2

The second motif I stitched was a geometric design that I found much easier to count.

Once I had stitched the outline, I was able to fill in the centre with little reference to the chart.

I made one small change to the design - I stitched the central compass in mid blue and cream instead of mid blue and turquoise.
